MAKING A SIMPLE HILL title image.
Following the steps below will help you make a hill that will be perfect for your games of Warhammer. These six simple steps will provide you with a nicely sloped low hill. If you like, you can texture the entire hill with sand or flock it with static grass, but a plain green hill is just fine for your games.

1
First, take a 1"-thick sheet of insulation foam (which can be found at most do-it-yourself hardware stores) and draw the shape of the hill you would like to make.
2
Then, using a retractable hobby knife, cut the foam so that it roughly follows the shape you drew on the foam, leaving about 1/2" of extra foam around the edge of the shape.

Next, using your hobby knife, carefully shape the foam by cutting at an angle and making the edges slope down from your outline. Always cut away from yourself to reduce the risk of injury, and keep your hands and fingers away from the sharp edge of your hobby knife.
4
Once you have your hill shaped as much as you can with the hobby knife, use some fine-grit sand paper to sand down the rough edges and smooth the surface of your hill.

You can then flock your hill with sand or green flock. Paint the hill with white (PVA) glue and then sprinkle the flock over it. Once this coat dries, you can paint on your basecoat and drybrush the hill to the colors you want. After painting, you can also attach static grass for added effect.
6
Hills can be any color. It's usually best to match the color to your gaming table. The final picture above and to the right shows different color schemes that can be used.
